Physio in a Box
A lottery funded project by Morrello Marvels CIC

The Physio in a Box project aims to provide physiotherapy support, at-home, to individuals who are living with a neurological condition and have been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This can include people who have been affected directly through infection, for example during their hospital admission. As well as indirectly, through lockdown restrictions closing community gym classes and outpatient services for example.
The project offers bespoke treatment plans catered to the individual's needs, with the necessary equipment sent directly to their door in a box, or equipment such as bikes being safely set up in their home by a specialist.
The project also provides virtual physiotherapy sessions with one of morrello clinic's specialist physiotherapist's, all of this comes at no cost to the beneficiary. The aim is to establish a routine of exercises, that can be continued independently and enhance the beneficiaries physical and mental wellbeing.
The initial pilot run of the project was a great success, we supported a number of beneficiaries and, importantly, were able to work out the intricacies of the project. Something that can only be done during the running of the project.
The pilot phase allowed us to recognise a number of possible changes and improvements that we can make in order to create the best possible project ready for when we relaunch. Physio in a Box has now expanded to also provide support to those suffering from Long-Covid, as we are now understanding more and more about this side effect of Covid-19.
A second round of funding has been secured, and we are gearing up to launch the second phase of Physio in a Box. This time, bigger and better!
Pictured is an example of a 'Physio in a Box' box that could be sent out to a beneficiary who has suffered a stroke. The box includes the Bioness H200, a Facebook Portal camera to track movement and assist with virtual physiotherapy sessions, and more.
